World Trade Center in association with Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce organized an online discussion “The Road Ahead -2023” Panelists included – Mr. T R Parasuraman, Executive Advisor, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd and Mr. B.C. Prabhakar, Mentor, HR and Women Leadership Expert Committee, BCIC and President, Karnataka Employers’ Association. The session was moderated by Dr. Augustus Azariah, Vice President, Kyndryl. Mr. Augustus touched upon the topic of massive layoffs, offline workmode etc. He also spoke on the importance of skill development and how it is necessary for India's growth into an economic powerhouse. Mr. Parasuraman shared the approach followed at Toyota for people development. The work from home mode has proven to be very effective both from employees and employer perspective. India is soon going to have the youngest population in the world. It will be a factory of the world and manufacturing sector will witness a boom. He stressed on the importance of the client connect programmes and how Toyota is conducting these. Mr. Prabhakar spoke about the legal aspects of moonlighting and the labor law related aspect of Master servant relationship. He shared his view about the gig economy and the support provided to them by law. He also said that while it is legal for one to take up a second job with consent of his employer, it might affect his capacity to perform.
