The World Trade Center (WTC) Kochi together with the National Institute of Personnel Management(NIPM) Kerala Chapter, organised a talk on the subject "Enabling Millennials with Market Relevant Skills’’. Mr Deepak Tejomaya, Associate Director, Human Resources-KPMG was the lead speaker. Mr Deepak Tejomaya touched upon the need for HR professionals to offer their time and services to equip the millennials with adequate skills needed at the corporate level. He cited the factors that makes a location viable and attractive to work and what helps the talent pool to be viable. Mr Deepak was of the opinion that Educational institutions should drive that culture which actually changes the behaviour of millennials. He added that the HR fraternity is equally responsible to build and retain talent in a location. Mr Deepak also urged the millennials to look beyond their curriculum and to actively get involved with the industry even while at the campus. After his talk, there were some serious deliberations on the topic among the participants who discussed at large the aspects HR fraternity should seriously think of to enable the younger workforce to adapt quickly in the corporate environment. Earlier Mr Vivek George, Dy Manager, WTC Kochi made the opening remarks and delivered the welcome address. Mr Anish Aravind, Hon. Secretary, NIPM Kerala Chapter introduced the speaker. Mr Sandeep Raj, Coordinator, WTC Kochi proposed the vote of thanks. The audience included Managing Committee Members of NIPM, their other Members, HR Professionals representing Manufacturing, Hospitality, Telecom, IT, Retail and Start-Ups. We also had representation from B Schools.
