The National Policy on Software Products was passed by the Union Cabinet in March 2019 with an objective to create a robust software product ecosystem. In this context, The World Trade Center Kochi in association with NASSCOM organized a seminar yesterday where this policy was interpreted and discussed with all major stakeholders of the IT industry. Mr.Ashish Gangrade, Partner, BDO India LLP was the speaker for the session. Mr. Gangrade said that the policy has a five dimensional 'mission' with the objective to increase Indian software industry's share in the global markets. These mission statements touch on aspects like IP driven software ecosystem, nurturing start-ups, creation of a talent pool as well as emphasis on cluster based innovation. He also said that people/companies/agencies must view these guidelines in the same context of Make In India and Start Up India. Mr. Gangrade mentioned that the policy will enable the Indian Software Product Industry to attain a size of $80 billion by 2025.Moreover high level growth opportunities are expected through entrepreneurial ventures, Government implementation and Skill Development programmes. The meeting was attended by representatives from NASSCOM, GTech, Start-ups, Maker Village, Technology park, Heads of companies in Infopark and Smart City.
