Sexual harassment exists almost in every industry. Interestingly it not always the women who are victimised but men too. The recent #Me-Too episodes have in fact forced Indian companies to take a more proactive approach to workplace sexual harassment. The POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act was passed in 2013. This law is already in place and the Companies Act has now mandated companies having more than 10 employees to constitute ICC (Internal Complaints Committee). In this regard, WTC along with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised an awareness session on Sexual Harassment at Workplace on 20th November 2018 at WTC Seminar Hall. Mr. James Joseph, Author and Founder of Jackfruit 366 and Mr. Deepak Tejomaya, Associate Director-HR KPMG Global were the lead speakers. Mr. James spoke on his experiences working with Companies in India and Abroad. He shared his observations and learnings on how he transformed from a gender-sensitive to a gender-neutral professional. Mr. Deepak took his talk through the actual POSH ACT, the most common issues in the corporate space, some GenY specific issues with examples. Mr. Vivek George, Deputy Manager-WTCK made the opening remarks and welcome address and Mr. Sandeep Raj, Coordinator-WTCK proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Madhusudan Gupta, President of ICCI gave away the mementoes. There was a Q & A session towards the end which was moderated by Adv. Bindu Antony-Corporate Lawyer and a Consultant on POSH Act. We had attendees were from different industries who shared their queries and scenarios with the speakers. There were ICC Representatives of Companies, HR Managers, Project and Team Leaders.
