The third episode in the expert talk series for finance professionals - “Sustainability Reporting Excellence: Harnessing COSO for Internal Control” was done in association with Institute of Management Accountants and World Trade Center Rennes Bretagne. Ms. Shari Helaine Littan, Director of Corporate Reporting Research and Thought Leadership, IMA was the speaker. The session was moderated by Ms. Srividhya Rajaram, Corporate Outreach Manager, IMA India.
Ms. Shari Littan elaborated on the Triple Bottom Line philosophy, encompassing the aspects of People, Planet, and Profits. She delved into the concept of stakeholder capitalism, emphasizing the importance of considering the interests of various stakeholders, including customers, employees, business partners, shareholders, government agencies, creditors, and the community. Ms. Littan underscored the significance of optimizing value throughout the entire value chain to deliver long-term benefits to these stakeholders.
Furthermore, she provided insights into the diverse voluntary reporting and regulatory requirements worldwide, including entities like the Securities and Exchange Commission, International Sustainability Standards Board, Securities Exchange Board of India, European Commission, and European Financial Reporting Advisory Group. Ms. Littan also offered a comprehensive overview of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), elucidating its objectives, advantages, and operational procedures. Additionally, she elucidated the IMA Competency Framework.
Mr. Vivek George, World Trade Center delivered the welcome address; Mr. Nicholas Beaty, Manager, World Trade Center Rennes Bretagne introduced the speakers and Mr. Pranesh Krishnan, Director of Operations, IMA proposed the vote of thanks.
